Doctor in Biology from the University of Barcelona, Technical Agricultural Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Master in Viticulture and Enology.
He has been a researcher at the INCAVI - Catalan Institute of Vine and Wine since 1985. Between 1988 and 1990 he spent time at the University of California at Davis where he conducted research on sulfur metabolism in yeasts and its sensory effects. The areas in which he has worked include oenology, sensory analysis, microbiology, environmental aspects, organic production and biodiversity.
Between 2014 and 2015 he worked in Brussels on European agricultural policies. He has participated in projects on traditional varieties, low-alcohol wines, with IRTA on saving irrigation water and biocontrol and yeast selection with the CSIC.
He has also participated in several European projects on eco-design of wineries, energy and water saving in viticulture and oenology, carbon footprint of wineries, biodiversity and wine landscapes. The research and transfer topics he works on are oriented towards the needs of wineries, international market environments and consumer demands.
Enric is also a wine producer, as his family culticates Malvasia de Sitges at Sant Pere de Ribes, Catalonia, Spain.
